All families are invited to participate in Family Faith Formation whether their children attend public or private school. The program runs from October through May each year. Parents attend with their children the first week of the month, either on Sunday Morning or Wednesday evening. The children (only) also attend on the third Sunday morning of the month. A detailed schedule for the year is provided at registration during the first two weeks of September.

Children and adults learning together fosters an increased bonding between parents and their children and abundant opportunity for daily growing in our Faith at home. It also helps develop a true sense of community among the many families of our parish community.

We are careful to follow closely what the Catholic Church teaches. We examine each of the four parts of the Catechism of the Catholic Church; Faith, Liturgy and Sacraments, Morality, and Prayer. We also include a study of Scripture and the relationship between the written Word and Sacred Oral Tradition.
Additionally, we address myths and untruths that exist in the world about the Catholic Church and prepare you and your children to share our Catholic Faith, gently, accurately, and respectfully.
Those who actively participate grow in knowledge of the truth of the teachings of Catholic Church. It is through knowledge of the truths of our Faith that we are better able to live a life pleasing to God and to share our gift of Faith with others so that they too might have a place in the kingdom of Heaven.

Family Faith Formation and CCD begins Sunday, October 6, 2013. Please fill out the registration form and send/bring to the parish office.

“The catechesis of children, young people, and adults aims at teaching them to mediate on The Word of God in personal prayer, practicing it in liturgical prayer, and internalizing it at all times in order to bear fruit in a new life.” —Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 2688)

Sacrament preparation classes take place on Sunday mornings. For those not attending St. John’s school, a minimum of two year’s active participation in the Family Faith Formation program is also required to be adequately prepared to receive these Sacraments.

The R.C.I.A. is the Process of welcoming adults into
the Catholic Church. Adults who have not been baptized, have been baptized in another Christian faith or baptized Catholics who have not received the Eucharist and/or Confirmation are invited to be part of our R.C.I.A. Process journey. There are four stages in the Process : Inquiry or Precatechmenate, Catechumenate, Celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation, and Mystagogy (further Catechesis).

All of these stages have sessions for adults; held in the Vianney Center on Tuesdays, from 7–9 p.m.

Remember: God's love is always approachable.
Our doors are always open.

The R.C.I.A., Adapted for Children program, is a religious education program—adapted from the R.C.I.A. It is especially designed for young people, ages 6 to 17; who have not been baptized. Preparation of these young people for the Sacraments of Initiation is part of a journey of faith for the whole family which helps them come to the realization of God’s immense love for them.

To schedule an appointment or for more information on either program, please contact the R.C.I.A. Director,
360.1147, ext. 205.

Contact the Pastor’s Secretary, 727.360.1147, ext 227, three months before the proposed date of baptism.

Baptisms are scheduled on Sundays at 12:45 p.m., in the Chapel.

Parents must be St. John Vianney registered parishioners; if not, a Letter of Permission from their parish must be provided for the Baptism to take place at St. John’s.

First-time parents must attend a baptism preparation class.

A Registration For Baptism form must be filled out prior to the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism.

At least one Godparent must be a practicing Catholic and provide a Sponsorship Certificate for the Baptism.

If you are not a parishioner and wish to be registered, please contact an usher, the parish office,
or submit a form from this website.

If you are a parishioner and need a Sponsorship Certificate, contact the parish office.
